PERFORMANCE REVIEWS

An all too rare appearance by Nelsons Wake.......

Nelsons Wake at Preston Guild hall (2009)

"You were brill on Saturday....well done! Siobhan your voice is sounding so good at the mo, really rich and free. Chris has such a unique style which I find so thoroughly captivating and of course with Barry's fabulous songs, you make a an excellent trio. We had a great night thanks". (Abbie Lathe)

"We certainly did enjoy it, a fine live show (although you didn't sing The Itchen Ferry Lad, which is my favourite - but I'll forgive you!)". (Phil Widdows- Ken Nicol's partner in crime)

"Firstly, congratulations on a wonderful night last Saturday. You were on form, all three of you. Relaxed and really great. Our friend Vicky from Brussels relly enjoyed it too. Well done!" (Sue & Sue)

Kaleidoscope's final performance.......

An excerpt from the review of Solent Folk Festival 2004, by Phil Coldham

“…………..and next, my festival moment of moments (probably for the whole of 2004):

a small group of fanatics from Loose Screws Appalachian Dancers missed the dancing so much when the group disbanded (in 1999) and decided to rise again as Kaleidoscope…

Solent 2004 was their farewell performance and what a farewell! Now I’m not a dancer, and I know not a lot about dancing. However, for sheer joy and commitment, flair and audience bedazzlement, Kaleidoscope, on this night, well and truly took the biscuit. If dancing was always such as this, we’d all be doing it. All the time, boys and girls. It was dancing to raise the pulse, and fix a smile on one’s face. Topping the bill were John Tams and Barry Coope. Sad curmudgeon that I am, I departed when Kaleidoscope had woven their spell".

Phil Coldham had already reviewed Sidmouth, Towersey, Ely and Warwick festivals before Solent Folk Festival in 2004!
